Great turnout by local youth

The Washington Capitals' Street Hockey team put on a clinic at the outdoor rink in Fairgrounds Park last weekend.  Participants received instruction from Andrew and Josh, two members of the Caps' street hockey team.

Players first learned the basics.  They participated in a few stick handling drills, and then they learned how to make an accurate pass.  These two skills are the foundation for any hockey player, whether they play on the ice or sport court.  After learning these skills, Andrew and Josh demonstrated how to shoot the ball.

Once everyone learned the basics, it was time for a scrimmage.  The blue squad faced off against the red squad in a 20-minute scrimmage.  The participants had a great time, and were excited when they received a parting prize: a street hockey stick and ball.

The Caps' street hockey team was impressed by the turnout, and hopes to travel to Hagerstown in the near future to offer more clinics.  Stay tuned and follow Hagerstown Ice & Sports Complex on Facebook for future promotions and free events!
