Charity Game for a Local Family

On May 22, Hagerstown Ice & Sports Complex will host a charity hockey game between local police officers and firefighters.  The game will be held at 7pm.

Attendance to the game is open to the public, and we are requesting a donation of $5 per adult in attendance.  All proceeds will benefit Bentley Dorman's family.

Tragedy Strikes Our Community

Bentley's mother, Katlyn Hughes, was struck by a hit-and-run driver in December 2016.  Katlyn, 24, passed away from the injuries she sustained.  She left behind three children, including 3 week-old Bentley.  Bentley's siblings include sister Cadence (8) and brother Blake (4).

Bentley was born premature, and he suffers from bilateral club feet and a Stage 1 brain hemorrhage, which impacts his motor skills and cognitive abilities.

Bentley's grandmother (Katlyn's mother) has filed for custody and has cared for him since the tragedy.  The funds will be given to Bentley's family to assist with medical and dependent costs.

How can you help?

The rink will collect donations at the door on May 22.  A minimum $5 donation is requested.  Detective Stears of the Frederick County Sheriff's Department also launched a Go Fund Me page for the family.  If you cannot attend the game, please consider donating to Bentley Dorman's family.
