Hockey team helps to stock local food pantry for Christmas

Right before Christmas, the Hagerstown Kodiaks continued their annual tradition of giving back to the community.  They had a food drive in which they collected canned & non-perishable items for the Hagerstown Rescue Mission / Hope Center.  The Hope Center is a non-profit, faith-based relief and rehabilitation program in Hagerstown.  They work with other non-profits to confront community issues such as homelessness, hunger, poverty and substance abuse.

This marks the 5th year that the Kodiaks have made a donation to the Hope Center. Many of the team members dropped off the donated items together.  The Kodiaks are our region's first sled hockey team, comprised of males and females, both children and adults.  It offers hockey fans with physical disabilities the chance to make new friends, compete in a team sport, and travel to play other sled hockey teams.

The Kodiaks were able to help fill the shelves of the local food pantry right in time for Christmas.  The Hope Mission is grateful for the Kodiaks' contributions to their local community, and we are proud they call Hagerstown Ice & Sports Complex their home rink.  Well done, Kodiaks!
