Two former Washington Capitals, Paul Mulvey and Alan May, visited Hagerstown Ice & Sports Complex last weekend. They are ambassadors for the Caps' Learn to Play hockey program, an initiative that provides free equipment for young players as they learn the basics of skating and team play.
Mulvey and May suited up with the players and coaches, and participated in the drills. The former NHL players interacted with the kids, and gave them pointers during the drills. It was a great experience for the players. Several parents who grew up watching these players were able to snap some pictures of them with the kids. Several photos are shared below.
HISC is a partner in the Capitals' Learn to Play program, and we offer this program in the fall and spring. Many of these players have used the program as a launching pad to graduate to our in-house Hammerheads program, and our HYHA Bulldogs travel program.
If you are interested in the program, check out our Learn to Play page. It contains program-specific requirements and contact information for our Hockey Director.
