Short-handed team competed in Baltimore this weekend

The Hagerstown Kodiaks traveled to Baltimore this past weekend, as they took on the Bennett Blazers sled hockey team.  The teams competed at the Ice World rink.  The Blazers shut out the Kodiaks, 3-0.

Team Captain Mike Barnhart said the team had fun, but was exhausted after the game.  "We only had 7 skaters and our goalie, while the Blazers had 17 players," he said.  "It was a lot of hockey and we competed well- we are growing stronger as a team, each game."

The team only had one offensive reserve and one on defense.  Despite their lack of players, they played well in front of Goalie Rich Wilson.  Wilson made several strong saves to keep the score close.

The Kodiaks are the region's only sled hockey team, which is comprised of males and females ages 7 - 60+.  Learn more about the Kodiaks by visiting their page on our website.   You can also support the team by sponsoring a player during the Hagerstown Kodiaks sledathon, which is an annual fundraiser that buys equipment and ice time for the team.
