Area Youth Had a Blast!

Area youth had a chance to learn how to play hockey last weekend.  Parents, coaches and other volunteers helped each child suit up so they could experience the coolest sport in town.

Each year, USA Hockey organizes a Try Hockey For Free weekend.   Ice rinks across America are given the chance to invite new kids and families to the sport.  This helps to grow the sport and introduce the concepts to those who never skated before.

"We had a great turnout, with a few dozen kids trying hockey for the first time," said Chad Ziegler, the Hockey Director for the rink.  "We had many volunteers help the kids get sized for equipment and dressed, and youth hockey coaches assisted them with some basic on-ice instruction."
