Selecting a Private Instructor

First, observe the coach teaching lessons.  Next, speak with the coach's current students and parents.  Then inquire whether or not the coach is accepting new students.  Finally, inform the coach that you are interested in a lesson to decide if he/she is the right fit for you or your child.

Coaching Changes

Before changing instructors, communicate with your current instructor so they can attempt to better meet your needs.  Discuss your decision to change instructors with your current instructor before approaching another instructor.  Follow the suggestions above on selecting another instructor.  All outstanding fees to the current instructor must be paid prior to changing instructors. Both former and current instructors will confirm that this process has been followed.

Payment

All skaters are to pay the ice rink for their skating session prior to skating. Payment for private lessons are paid directly to the instructor.  Please confirm with your instructor as to his/her individual payment policies.

• Passed USFS Senior Moves In the Field, SUFS Juvenile Freestyle, and USFS Pre-Silver Ice Dancing
• Biology major at Mount St. Mary's University

Melissa Cullers    $20 per 1/2 hour

• 9 years coaching experience
• Teaching specialties:  Moves In the Field, Freestyle, Power Skating and Hockey
• Skated with a performance troupe for 4 years
• Played ice hockey for 5 years, participating in Canada Exchange Program
• Teaches all ages & skill levels
• BA in Secondary Education, Family & Consumer Sciences
• Full-time teacher with Washington County Public Schools

Ann Gallarano      $30 per 1/2 hour

• Holds a Senior rating in Freestyle and a Registered rating in Moves In the Field
• Has been coaching for 30 years with all skating levels
• Specializes in Freestyle, Moves and Ice Dance
• Accomplishments:  the 7th Figure and Freestyle tests, Dance test gold medal, and a regional level competitor
• Coached students through these tests as well as Senior Moves in the Field
• Keeps up to date with the changes in the sport by attending seminars and conferences
